MOUNTAIN MARYLAND TRAILS

ANNUAL GAP TRAIL CLEANUP DAY

Saturday, March 15, 2025

Mountain Maryland Trails, in conjunction with several other outdoor groups, is sponsoring our annual trail clean up day of 2025.

On Saturday March 15, 2025 we are planning a cleanup and minor repairs on the Great Allegheny Passage in Maryland from Cumberland to Frostburg.  We will meet at 9:00 at the Dig Deep parking lot near Canal Place, then disperse to the following trail heads:

1-Valley St, Cumberland

2. Dakota St

2-Cash Valley Road

3-Woodcock Hollow Road

4-Frostburg Depot

Volunteers will work in both directions, up and down the trail, from each location.  If you have a group that would like to coordinate a trailhead or one direction please let us know.

Our cleanup coordinator is Rick Bartlett (lemonfelt@gmail.com) (301) 707-5699.

Please RSVP to volunteer and let Rick know the location where you’d like to volunteer.

Please wear warm clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, and hiking or work boots to walk the GAP. Volunteers may also wish to travel by bike.  Also bring work gloves and tools for clearing brush, picking up trash and clearing drains. Bags of trash and large items(tires, appliances, etc.) can be placed beside the trail for pickup later in the day with a trailer.

Afterwards, join us for lunch at D’Atri’s on Baltimore St in Cumberland.

Please come join MMT, GAP Trail Ambassadors, Wheelzup, the Western Maryland Climbing Coalition, and Scouts for a fun day  beautifying one of our region’s great resources.
